HA! AHAHAHAHAHAH AHEM.
Yes. Sorry. I know this is twice in like, an hour or something, and it's merely another link. But I was looking up Massive Attack on Wiki, purely to find out Grant's last name (Marshall, apparently). But they're from Bristol, which, y'know, made me click the Bristol Wiki article link. Which makes Bristol sound really quite fabulous. And y'know, despite all of its shade associations and history, it really kind of is fabulous?
However, from there, I was like, "ooh, administrative districts of South West England." (Don't judge me, it's a horribly boring Sunday and I'm still sulking.) So I click North Somerset, because, y'know. Hi, home county! Weston-super-Mare's motto is Ever Forward?! OH HA! Ahem. That's almost funny. This town is stuck in a time-bubble of it's last hayday. Which was oh, um, forty years ago? At least? That's the bits that aren't still a bit Victorian revival? Oh, heart, hometown. You're so ridiculously deluded.
And for your next trick, town council, FIND SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T THINK THE FUCKING "MODERN ART CARROT THING" WAS A WASTE OF A QUARTER MILLION POUNDS. Because what was wrong with the BIG LAMP AT BIG LAMP CORNER?
In conclusion, my trip to town yesterday reminded me why I detest living in a seaside town with such passion. Bastards.

A structure known as Silica has been installed at Big Lamp Corner during 2006. It is a piece of public art, an advertising sign, a retail kiosk selling newspapers and hot food (waffles and so on), as well as a bus shelter. It has been criticised by some local residents who liken it to a carrot or a space ship, although it is meant to symbolise man's harmony with the sea. This was part of North Somerset Council's ongoing civic pride initiative that has sought to revitalise Weston-super-Mare's public spaces - which had suffered a period of decline.
